COLLABORATIVE PRESENTATION EXPERIENCE

In collaboration with the Autism Alliance of Michigan, I have worked with Belinda Lee to present Autism and Oral Health Care across Michigan to educate dental professionals on strategies to best care for autistic individuals in an assent-based manner. Our shared goal is to increase access to compassionate and effective health care for individuals with disabilities. 

 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Building Bridges Therapy Center                                                                           9/2010 – 11/2024     

Co-Director of Behavioral Services. Hiring, training, and managing staff delivering assent-based ABA services to children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and their families and providing direction for including and expanding ABA services collaboratively in a multidisciplinary clinic. Collaborating and consulting with autistic individuals and their families regarding programming and services provided. Ensuring that Cultural Humility is a guiding principle, working toward equity in recruiting, hiring, training, and supporting a diverse team of staff, as well as in assessment and treatment of a diverse clientele. Participating in business planning, providing monthly training and educational opportunities for all staff, and creating high-quality opportunities for those pursuing their BCBA to learn various skills and gain meaningful supervised experiences.

 

      Supervising, training, and managing BCBAs, Lead BCBAs, direct line and advanced-level behavioral staff, supporting and monitoring data collection activities, conducting functional assessments of challenging behaviors of children and adolescents in home, school, and community settings, developing treatment plans to address barrier behavior and skill acquisition, and providing training and ongoing support to parents, caregivers, teachers, and other professionals who will implement these plans in various settings.

 

      Create, plan, and present monthly workshops to introduce families and community members to behavior-analytic principles and procedures. Contribute to developing and delivering training activities provided by Building Bridges for professionals in the community working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder or challenging behavior and children in general.

 

      Building relationships with schools and school districts to increase the use of effective Functional Behavior Assessment and evidence-based treatment planning when addressing challenging behavior in school settings. Providing training workshops, Functional Behavior Assessments for Independent Educational Evaluations in school settings, and consultation services to school districts and school staff.    

 

Independent ABA Consultant                                                                                9/2009 – 11/2012

      Conducted comprehensive assessments of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Developed in-home skill acquisition programs. Conducted functional assessments of challenging behaviors in home, school, and community settings.  Developed treatment plans to address challenging behavior and skill acquisition. Provided training, evaluation, and supervision for parents, home, and school staff.

 

Judson Center- Autism Connections Program                                                        9/2008 - 8/2010           

  Provided direction for adding ABA in the multidisciplinary clinic and participated in initial business planning. Directed behavioral services with a focus on children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Supervised behavioral specialist staff. Conducted functional assessments of the challenging behaviors of children and adolescents in home, school, and community settings.  Developed treatment plans to address challenging behavior and skill acquisition.

 Created, planned, and presented quarterly workshops to provide families and community members with an introduction to autism spectrum disorder and ABA.

Independent Applied Behavior Analysis In-Home Therapist                                  2/2001-11/2010

      Provided intensive behavioral therapy to preschool and elementary-aged children with autism under the supervision of BCBAs. Aided in Functional Behavior Assessments and the development of skill acquisition and behavior change programs, conducted one-on-one and group therapy sessions, and collected and evaluated data.                                                                                      

 

William Beaumont Hospital Center for Human Development CARE Center          4/2004 – 6/2005

      Provided intensive behavioral therapy for preschool and elementary-aged children with Autism, assisted with progress assessments, trained new staff, and conducted ongoing staff performance evaluations and IOA checks.
